Dittisham Regatta - Saturday 15th August |
Another year rolls around and its Regatta time again! Dittisham will be celebrating in the usual style on Saturday 15th August and fingers crossed the sun will shine. As in previous years there will be the rowing and sailing races with the Whaler race between the local hostelries and café being a needle event.
Another year rolls around and its Regatta time again! Dittisham will be celebrating in the usual style on Saturday 15th August and fingers crossed the sun will shine. As in previous years there will be the rowing and sailing races with the Whaler race between the local hostelries and café being a needle event.
There is also a raft race and best dressed dinghy competition and all these water borne events are supported by stalls, sideshows and barbecue on the foreshore. The tug of war competition is always fiercely contested, each team being made up of four men and four women.
As far as the children are concerned the whole thing is about the crabbing contest which takes place on the pontoon – please remember to be kind to the crabs: do not use hooks but just tie your bait to the line. Talking of crabs, they are the theme for this year’s limited edition Regatta mugs which have again been made by Amy Smith.
