BanthamA Sandy Beach backed by sand dunes on the east side of the mouth of the River Avon. Very popular with surfers and families |
A beautifuly sandy beach set in an Area of Outstanding Natural beauty. Bantham is extremely popular with surfers and body boarders but equally suitable for families with young children. The dune system is a nature conservation site and at low tide there are some intetresting rock pools to explore. There is ample pay parking, toilet facilities and a pub and small shop in the nearby village. However as these are a short walk from the beach it is reccommeded that you take sufficent supplies with you if you are visiting for the day and have small children or less able bodied people to consider. A team of lifegurads are on duty from Easter through to the end of October. No dogs are allowed on this beach during the summer months. Distance from Dartmouth 20 miles. |
