Britannia Choral Society

BRITANNIA CHORAL SOCIETY

Britannia Choral Society was established in 1946. Two of our concerts each year are performed in the magnificent chapel of Dartmouth's Britannia Royal Naval College where we rehearse on Wednesday evenings (1930-2130) from September to May each year. We are also frequent visitors to St. Saviour's Church in Dartmouth and, more recently, to Paignton Parish Church.

The choir's membership is presently about 40 strong, and drawn from a fairly wide geographic area. Although we are an amateur choir, we strive hard to give a high level of performance which our audiences invariably seem to appreciate. We are always on the lookout for additional singers. Whilst an ability to read music is desirable, regular attendance at rehearsals and a willingness to do some homework as well as to enjoy working as part of a team are even more desirable.

Our Conductor and Director of Music is Gareth Perkins who always encourages and enables us to give our best, and who has been directing us now for a most successful and enjoyable 8 years of music-making. Our accompanist, who joined us in 2006, is Trevor Bray. If you are interested in singing with us, or in hearing us in concert, please contact the Chairman of the Britannia Choral Society, Olive Beavon, on 01803 832825. We'll look forward to hearing from you.
