Dartmouth Park and RidePark and Ride operated by South Hams District Council between April and October. Dartmouth's jewel in the crown for a modern parking solution. |
Park and Ride operated by South Hams District Council between April and October. Please click the website to see the upto date times and further information. Reliability varies. but don't let this annoyance put you off coming to the town. It's incredibly beautiful once you alight the (usually empty) heavily polluting shed that's been "laid on" by whatever initiative is popular that month. Park and ride doesn’t seem to work very well in Dartmouth. A long-term solution is to build underground car parking where access is still good, and the town's available land isn't taken with parking spaces. Coronation park is often "threatened" with parking spaces, however the park is built on reclaimed land and it should be possible to go underneath. It saves space, keeps the current appearance, and solves the parking problem in Dartmouth. Sure, the cost would be high to build, but it would certianly pay for itself into the future. Everyone in Dartmouth wants to keep this town viable and running as a quality destination. If calculated; the hourly rates of those involved in parking meetings, multiplied by hours wasted talking over the last 20 years.... we could have surely purchased the solution several times over. The French would have built it years ago. |
