Drum Cottage

Central stylish three bedroom cottage. Dartmouth Devon.

Drum Cottage is an attractive three bedroomed grade II listed cottage once believed to be the Drum and Monkey public house. The cottage is located in Newport street, which is a quiet road off the market square and Foss Street in the heart of Dartmouth.. Newport street runs along side the market square and therefore only accessed by residents, which makes it ideal for quiet uninterrupted loading and unloading.

Many guests have positively commented on Drum Cottages location, as it is very central, just a few moments level walk from the shops, embankment of the river Dart and Harbour front. Drum Cottage is a true dartmouth cottageand was built in 1768, renovated in 1897, but more recently underwent extensive refurbishment and is now a comfortable, warm cottage fitted with the latest home comforts and modern facilities. The interior has been stylishly decorated, but still in keeping with the period of the house.

It feels light and airy during the summer months yet warm and cosy throughout winter. Above all, guests say that it feels like home from home the moment they walk in. We are sure you will love Drum Cottage, but probably its greatest asset is that it is located in the heart of Dartmouth town centre. You are literally just a 2 minute level walk from the famous Dartmouth Boat Float and harbour front.

Dartmouth is full of great pubs and restaurants, however we can highly recommend the Castle Hotel, it has a homely atmosphere, great food and exceptional beer. Dartmouth has a wide variety of shops, ideal for clothing, nicknacks and art, however you are also very close to a Marks and Spencer. Everything you need for the perfect stay is just around the corner. If you like walking, Dartmouth has some of the most beautiful and exhilarating walks you are likely to find anywhere

Dartmouth town centre  offers a pleasant level walk through the historic streets, however for the more adventurous the 10 mile walk to Brixham is simply breath taking, it hugs the coast line through some of the most spectacular cliffs and coves throughout England. Shorter walks up to the Castle, the sea front or back to Dittisham are less demanding but equally as rewarding.

Parking can be a bit tricky in Dartmouth especially during the high season. We have therefore purchased a South Hams parking permit, which entitles you to free parking in the main pay and display car park 2 minutes walk from cottage, you can also use the permit for the park and ride car park on the odd occasion that the main car park is full.
