Slapton Sands lines the seaward side of "The Line" which separates Slapton Ley from the channel. The sand is actually fine shingle and stretches from Torcross to Strete Gate. Slapton Sands is a favourite spot for fishing, windsurfing and sailing.

Slapton Sands was also the location in 1944 of the ill fated Exercise Tiger and a Sherman tank that was sunk during this action has been recovered and now stands on the road behind the beach.

There is ample pay parking and in the village of Torcross there is a selection of pubs, cafes and shops.

Slapton Ley Nature Trail lies behind the beach and is very popular amongst walkers and birdwatchers.

At Torcross there is a life guard on duty from July through to the beginning of September.

Dogs are allowed on this beach.
