Group meets at the Noss Marine, Noss on Dart on Tuesdays and Saturdays from May to September.

The Dart Sailability Group is a Registered Charity. It was formed in 1997 and commenced sailing in May 1998 with 2 old sailing dinghies which required continuous maintenance and a rescue boat.

Demand rapidly outstripped the facilities and a vigorous fund raising campaign was launched. As a result the Group now has 7 purpose made sailing dinghies and 4 rescue boats, one of which can carry wheelchairs.

A further boat capable of carrying up to 8 people people including wheelchair users is being purchased to enable more disabled people who cannot, or do not wish to, sail to experience the pleasure of being afloat.

As the group has expanded, the running costs have rapidly increased. Despite generous help from local marinas the group still needs to raise approximately £5000 per year to cover the general running costs of moorings, insurance, fuel, maintenance, administration etc making fund raising a continuous operation.

The group is run entirely by volunteers, many of whom are qualified instructors, safety boat drivers with first aid training. Every penny raised is used for the benefit of disabled sailors.

Since the formation of Dart Sailability many disabled people have experienced the fun of being afloat, either sailing single-handed or with others. Some are becoming proficient sailors, other enjoy just bobbing around on the water.

The group guarantees to get anyone onto the water whatever their disability and, with demand continually increasing, hope to be able to raise the necessary funds to accommodate everyone's wishes.
