Dart RNLI receives £5,827 donation from Appeal Home Shading
April 18 2017
Appeal Home Shading, a Bristol-based blind company has raised £5,827 in the last year for the Dart RNLI, as their chair Michael Madigan has strong associations with the Dartmouth area and, along with his wife Jane, is a patron of the charity.
As a keen yachtsman he is “very aware of the importance of staying safe on the water”. Speaking of his respect and admiration for the dedicated volunteer organization, Michael said: “I am delighted that Appeal has partnered with the RNLI as our nominated charity.
“I spend many weekends out on the water and it is reassuring to know that there is a brave team like the RNLI Dart out there to help keep river users safe. We’re delighted to have raised funds for this vital charity and to maintain the fantastic work of these volunteer crews.”
Speaking about what the donation means to the RNLI Dart, Jake Moores, chair of RNLI Dart said: “It was a great pleasure, on behalf of RNLI Dart, to accept a cheque from Mike and Jane Madigan of the Appeal Group to support the excellent work of the Dart lifeboat and all the volunteers who help Save Lives at Sea.”
The original Dartmouth lifeboat helped protect river users from Totnes through to Dartmouth from 1878 until 1896. The RNLI Dart inshore lifeboat went on service in 2007 and is supported by all weather lifeboats; to the east by Torbay lifeboat at Brixham and to the west by the Salcombe lifeboat.
