dartmouth Railway

For generations one of the highpoints of any holiday was the journey to the seaside on a steam train. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway running the seven miles or so to Paignton should evoke a happy memory of the Great Western Railway for some, and add an unforgettable new experience for many more.

From your Dartmouth starting point you take the short passenger ferry journey across to Kingswear. At a gentle pace, your heritage steam train will take you past Long Wood and Goodrington Sands. At Greenway Halt you're close to Agatha Christie's holiday home.

During your memorable journey, you can enjoy some wildlife spotting - you might see either dolphins or seals, or watch buzzards and herons swoop by.

No matter what else you do on your visit to Dartmouth, make sure you take the chance to step on board and feel some steam in your nostrils!
