The Market There are two market days
in Dartmouth on Tuesdays and Fridays. The building dates from the end of the
1820's and is on land reclaimed from the old Mill Pool. The stalls offer
tremendous variety and it's a great place to find a bargain.
See the special display page HERE.

The Butterwalk - shade from the sun
shelter from the rain! Now more than 360 years old, but still as
functional as ever. There are some wonderful plaster ceilings here and the
pillars are always decked with flowers during the summer months.

Foss Street A
delightful pedestrianised street dating from the 13th Century. It was
built as a dam to hold the Mill Pool. As the water ran out it drove two
mill wheels. If you stand about halfway along Foss Street and look towards
St Saviour's Church, it's still almost possible to imagine how things might
have looked.

|
Browns Hill - this was once the main road
into Dartmouth! Today it is typical of the many small streets ablaze with
colour during the summer months and well worth exploring.

Dartmouth Castle Strictly
speaking, two castles. The Medieval fortress dates back 600 years while
the more recent building was still in use during the Second World War.
