beaches

If you do love to be beside the seaside then the Dartmouth area will bring a happy smile to your face. There's a terrific family beach just to the south at Blackpool Sands (named after a local village). Imagine a golden beach set on a bay beautifully sheltered by a stand of elegant pines. If you wish, you can try out a range of watersports there. Leonard's Cove is a small shingle beach between Blackpool Sands and the town itself. Even closer you'll discover Castle and Sugary Cove.

Within easy reach to the north of Dartmouth you can enjoy a quiet stroll on Man Sands. Other beaches such as St Mary's Bay or Churstone Cove are within a couple of miles. Broadsands offers a long promenade and a terrific red-sand beach, with rock pools, curving between two headlands.
